Tasty and Meatless started in 2001 as a weekly TV series ahead of it’s time. It originally broadcast on Time Warner Cable throughout the state of Hawaii into the homes of over one million people. The TV series was started by Hawaii-raised Joy Waters, who had watched the obesity and diabetes rates climb alarmingly in her island community. She produced the series with her company Positive Media Hawaii.
“Our goal is to educate, entertain, and inspire our viewers by giving them practical tools that they can incorporate immediately into their lifestyle, no matter where they currently are in their process to improved health,” said producer Joy Waters, in a news article about the TV series.
Besides weekly cooking demos, the TV series also interviewed prominent health leaders about nutrition and featured businesses that promoted healthy products and services. A primary sponsor was Down to Earth Natural Foods. After airing over 80 episodes the TV series went off the cable airwaves but some of the archives can be found on Positive Media Hawaii’s YouTube Channel (please SUBSCRIBE to our channel as new videos are added often).
Now, Tasty and Meatless is an online community resource continuing to inspire people to make more vegan choices with free vegan recipes, cooking demo videos, articles with health tips, and updates about all things cool and vegan.
